Adventerra Games Adds Two More Tillywig Awards to Its Quiver

Adventerra Games is excited to have its other two games honored with Tillywig “Top Fun” and “Best Family Fun” Awards. Recycle Rally and WaterGame have been recognized as exceptionally fun games, joining similar honors in late 2019 by Tillywig for PowerHaus and Global Warning.

Here’s why Recycle Rally won a Tillywig Top Fun Award:

Recycle Rally is an enormously fun way for kids to gain a genuine appreciation for the benefits of recycling as well as an understanding how, and why, it works. A visually stunning board game with easy-to-learn rules and an abundance of playfully crafted, high-quality components, Recycle Rally transforms players into master recyclers who drive trucks around town, picking up recyclable waste and transporting it to the appropriate recycling area on the board. Each offloaded item earns the player who delivered it points relative to its ecological value (plastic bottles: 3 points, appliances: 9 points, and so on), incentivizing players to go after the highest value items. Recyclables left untouched at the end of each round go in the incinerator, a suboptimal outcome for everyone. For if more than 24 objects have been incinerated by the end of the game, everybody loses, a play feature that amply drives home the fact that we are all in this together! For 3 to 5 players, ages 7 to adult!

And here is why WaterGame won a Tillywig Best Family Fun Award:

WaterGame cleverly pits players for and against one another by giving them a common cause that, if neglected, becomes everyone’s loss. Players move their tokens along the river on rolls of the die, gaining or losing water according to cards they pick up along the way. Those cards contain water-saving and water-wasting behaviors applicable to everyday life, information that affords players potentially habit-changing knowledge. The gloriously illustrated board is a masterpiece of playfulness. Its eye-catching visuals serve a variety of purposes such as keeping track of the communal water supply, a source to which players can turn when running low but that relies on voluntary donations to fend off depletion. Such donations tend to be made strategically by savvy players with their eyes firmly on the prize. For if any player arrives at the end with less than 10 gallons of water in supply, all players lose the game. And while that shared conservation-of-water objective is central to the gameplay, WaterGame serves it up with such an enjoyably entertaining touch that the foremost thing on players’ minds following each game was how much fun they’d just had! For 3 to 4 players, ages 7 and up!

Following is Tillywig’s awards evaluation criteria and process so you can see what it takes to win:

In order to do well in our process, a product must be determined by Tillywig and any testers we may use to have high entertainment and/or educational value. When assessing these values, our focus is on evaluating many factors, including:

Ease of First Use
Clear, easy-to-understand instructions and product design are key factors in creating a positive initial experience.

Replay Value
It was fun the first time out, but will it be equally or even more enjoyable over a period of weeks, months…years?

Quality/Appearance
Does it look and feel well-made? Is it something retailers would be proud to have on their shelves, a parent would be proud to give as a gift? Is it, from all appearances, built to last?

Social Interaction/Fun Factor
Products that effectively promote a high level of face-to-face playful interaction receive a high rating from us. If participants laughed out loud, so much the better!

Creativity
Does it inspire creativity during use/play? Does this product actively fuel the imagination?

Thought Processes/Motor Skills
Does it encourage new ways of thinking or promote physical development?

Weighting of Criteria
The degree to which we consider some of the above criteria depends, in part, on what we feel the product presents itself to be. If it appears to be an educational product, then we will more heavily weigh factors relating to learning and development. If a product presents itself as a family or party game, we will more heavily weigh factors relating to social interaction and playfulness. If the packaging and instructions seem to be communicating one thing, and the product turns out to be quite another, then the product will not be selected for a Tillywig award.

We thank Tillywig for these additional honors!
